Nathan Granner (world-renowned leading tenor, headliner, solo and collaborative artist, specializing in new opera and late bel-canto repertoire) has been in the LA Opera Connects family for almost four years. As a teaching artist, Nathan is committed to transferring his multi-faceted skills to kids of all ages. As a mainstage artist, and crucially, now, on microphone, Nathan's voice fills the air with a beautiful, lyric timbre of dark wood and light shimmering chiaroscuro, hearkening back to tenors of the golden age. In addition to traditional Puccini and Verdi characters, Nathan has created roles in multiple world premiere operas, including Aubrey Wells in Laura Kaminsky's Today it Rains, Morel in Stewart Copeland's The Invention of Morel, and most notably as Granner's early breaks with the venerated Wolf Trap, Glimmerglass Operas and as a Metropolitan Opera National Competition winner have lead to a career-path blessed with distinction, variety and wild extremes. Being a founding member of the Sony Masterworks recording group, The American Tenors, working as a marketing director (Long Beach Opera), headlining national tours, concerts and making classical music inspired art installations (Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art), a visionary artistic director, publisher and entrepreneur are all the things that go into a sustained life of an opera singer and of a producing artist.
